PORTLAND, Maine — Gas prices are rising in Maine.

Gasoline price website says the average price in the state is up 3.1 cents over the past week to $2.72 per gallon. The website says Sunday’s average was 19.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst, says most parts of the country will see higher prices this week following a report on a larger-than-expected drop in petroleum supplies that drove oil prices past $80 per gallon.

DeHaan expects high volatility in retail gasoline prices this autumn as the U.S. economy continues to improve, signaling higher demand for petroleum products. printed on August 23, 2017
