Crash shuts down Winterport road

WINTERPORT, Maine — Police worked for more than an hour Monday to clear Monroe Road after a car crashed into a utility pole at 7:08 a.m. near the Hampden town line.

According to Chief Deputy Robert Keating of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, the accident caused the pole to topple and wires to fall across the road, which was blocked for “at least an hour or two” while traffic was rerouted.

He said Monday afternoon that there were no serious injuries. No further information was available.
