NAPLES, Maine — Police say a body found in an overgrown field in southwestern Maine is that of a 37-year-old man reported missing three weeks ago.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said the body was found Wednesday behind a bar on Route 302 in Naples. Jeffrey Stewart of Bridgton, whose wife reported him missing Labor Day weekend, last was seen walking along Route 302 after a minor car crash.

Police say there were no signs of foul play, but that the cause of death hasn’t been determined.

Stewart’s wife told the Portland Press Herald that her husband was a disabled veteran with mental health problems and had been discharged from the hospital two days before he went missing.
