HAMPDEN, BANGOR and PITTSFIELD – Hugo Frati, 83, died unexpectedly Sept. 28, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 21, 1927, in Bangor, a son of Enrico and Alice (Hellenbrand) Frati. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Midway during World War II. After the war, he co-owned Frati’s Jewelry Store, Pittsfield, with his brother, Peter; and later owned Central Trading Post, Bangor. He was also a deputy sheriff with Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department. Hugo was an active Mason and member of Anah Shrine, Bangor. He will be remembered as an avid golfer, and loved fishing with his brothers and hunting with his sons. He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Watson) Frati of Hampden; stepmother, Muriel Frati of Bangor; four sons, Douglas and wife, Erin Frati, and Kent and wife, Glenda Frati, all of Palmyra, Alan Frati of New Hampshire, and Glenn and wife, Laura Frati, of Massachusetts; a daughter, Gail and husband, Bob Greenblatt, of Portland; a stepson, Daniel Webber Sr. of Dexter; a stepdaughter, Melissa and husband, Robert Norris, of Newport; two brothers, Peter and wife, Helen Frati, of Brunswick, and Orlando and wife, Charlene Frati Sr., of Bangor; two sisters, Louise and husband, Lynn Harris, of Louisiana and Joanna Hitt of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver, Alicia Lord. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Robert Carlson officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Corinna Village Cemetery.
