The Associated Press

WESTBROOK, Maine — Candidates for governor and Congress delivered speeches to a tea party rally in Maine that drew more than 100 people.

Independent gubernatorial candidates Shawn Moody, Kevin Scott and John Jenkins spoke Sunday to a crowd at Riverside Park in Westbrook. Moody and Scott are on the ballot, and Jenkins is waging a write-in campaign.

A representative of Republican candidate Paul LePage also spoke.

The rally also drew Dean Scontras, a Republican who is running against incumbent Democrat Chellie Pingree in Maine’s 1st Congressional District.

The Portland Press Herald said two raffles at the gathering were held to benefit the local American Legion post and the Cumberland County tea party.
