BANGOR — The Salisbury (Maryland) University football team piled up 552 rushing yards as the Seagulls drubbed Husson University 84-7 in a college football clash at the Winkin Complex Saturday afternoon.
Coach Sherman Wood’s Gulls (3-0) led 49-0 at halftime, and five different tailbacks rushed for at least 70 yards, led by Dan Griffin’s 105 while Joey Jones had 103.
“I thought we were fairly consistent on offense,” Wood said. “We executed very well.”
Salisbury scored twice 55 seconds apart in the opening quarter, on a 16-yard run by Griffin and a 30-yard scamper by Bryan Woolson, who ran for 77 yards and two touchdowns on the day.
The Gulls showcased offensive balance, with seven different backs recording at least one touchdown, while Alex Boseman had three catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns and Ross Flanigan hauled in a 74-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
Andre Carter added a 73-yard interception return for a touchdown for Salisbury.
Husson’s lone score came on a 30-yard pass from Kash Keezer to Ben Foss in the fourth quarter. Husson was held to 215 yards of total offense while Salisbury compiled 708.
The Eagles (0-3) were paced by Byron Jackson, who ran for 42 yards while Keezer passed for 76 yards and Jack Hersom 61.
