JONESPORT – Carlos Tapia, 34, of Manhattan, N.Y., died Sept. 14, 2010, in Dedham. Carlos was born Jan. 7, 1976, in Lima, Peru, to Brigadia Rodriguez and Miguel Tapia. He graduated from high school in Lima, Peru. A humble, hardworking man, he arrived in New York City, July 4, 2000. He lived, worked and studied in Manhattan, N.Y. He attended Hostos Community College and Hunter Community College, where he studied art. Among his many passions were the arts, yoga, wildlife, music – especially singing and dancing, playing guitar and to make just about everyone laugh. In 2006 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and graduated from Machinery Technician “A” School, Yorktown, Va. Third Class Machinery Technician Carlos Tapia was most recently stationed at Coast Guard Station, Jonesport. This past summer Carlos married Rachelle Parker, a Beals Island native. He lived in Jonesport with his wife, Rachelle, and their lovely daughter, Mackenzie Gray. He is survived by his mother, Brigadia; father, Miguel; sister, Susana; brother, Miguel of Kearny, N.J.; his brother, Luis of Lima, Peru; and countless family and friends. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone that knew him. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Beals Wesleyan Church. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 21, at Beals Elementary School. Interment will be at Great Wass Cemetery, Beals. A service of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes.
