Three cool cats will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Bangor Civic Center, transporting the audience to a different time and place — 1950s and ’60s Las Vegas.
Three members of the infamous Rat Pack — Frank Sinatra (Monty Aidem), Sammy Davis Jr. (Lambus Dean) and Dean Martin (Andy DiMino) — perform the tribute show featuring favorite tunes such as “Come Fly With Me,” “Luck Be a Lady” and “My Kind of Town.”
“It’s not going to be your typical Bangor Auditorium show where you come and just sit and watch,” said show producer and opening act Steve Robbins. “We are actually recreating a Vegas showroom in the Civic Center.”
There will be showgirls, Vegas-style seating, and the Brian Nadeau Orchestra will add to the atmosphere.
“It’s the Rat Pack show — all the songs, all the jokes,” said Robbins.
Tickets are $49 and include dinner at Hollywood Slots Epic Buffet, the show and a chance to win a three-night, four-day Vegas vacation.
The performers frequently put the show on in Vegas, although Aidem and Dean are based out of Los Angeles. They’ve performed as a corporate show for giants such as Ford, Chrysler and American Express.
“These guys are dead on,” said Robbins. “It’s incredible. They all look like them. Their voices are exactly the same.”
Robbins first became acquainted with the trio last March during a performance they did at a gala for the then newly renovated Lincoln County Community Theater in Damariscotta. Robbins did his approximately 15-minute long opening act, and the Rat Pack was so impressed that they asked the Bangor resident to open for them whenever they’re on the East Coast.
When the Rat Pack became booked for two days this month in Maine — Friday, Sept. 24 is a return performance at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta and Sunday at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland — with a day in between bookings, they turned to Robbins to try and fill the open date.
“Not only are they great guys, but they’re great performers,” Robbins said. “I hope the people who come to see it believe they’re up in a Vegas showroom to watch it.”
