Motorcyclists deliver toys for kids

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — One of Maine’s biggest — and noisiest — charity runs went off without a hitch Sunday as hundreds of motorcyclists brought toys to Maine’s capital city.

Augusta police say 500 to 600 bikers gathered at the civic center and proceeded to the Windsor Fairgrounds on Sunday afternoon in the 29th annual event. The motorcyclists brought stuffed animals, games and other kinds of toys, which were collected by the Salvation Army for distribution to needy families before Christmas.

The United Bikers of Maine sponsors the event.
