MORRIS W. MOOMEY

LIMESTONE – Morris W. Moomey, 67, husband of Martha L. (Brooker) Moomey, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2010, at a Caribou health care facility, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Cadillac, Mich., son of Guy and Gustia (Watson) Moomey. He attended school in Cadillac, Mich., and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1980, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he received numerous decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. After his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Moomey continued working on the former Loring Air Force Base in the snow removal department and the Commissary as a front-end manager. Morris was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moomey was predeceased by two sons, Martin L. and Stephen M. Holton; and several siblings. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Martha L. Moomey; one son, Robert W. Moomey and his companion, Lacy Monteith, all of Limestone; two daughters, Wanda L. Howie and her husband, Tim, of Windham, and Roxane L. Bisson of Limestone; one brother, Jack Moomey of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Danielle, Aimee and Jessica Howie, all of Windham, Brittany Bisson of Waterbury, Conn., Rebecca Bisson of Ansonia, Conn., Kilee Merchant of Georgia, Meagan and Kevin Holton, both of Milford, Conn., and Andrew Moomey of Limestone; three great-grandchildren, Gianna, Gavin and Ava Howie, all of Windham; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Main Street, Limestone, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held after the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship will be held after interment service at St. Louis Church reception area. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Moomey to his family, care of Martha L.
