LINCOLNVILLE — A man who hit a utility pole at 9:40 p.m. Monday, causing $9,000 worth of damage to his 2004 Ford Mustang, has been issued a summons for operating while under the influence and driving to endanger, according to police.

Aaron M. Upton, 25, of Lincolnville, was driving on Tucker Brook Road when he moved over to avoid striking another vehicle, he told deputies with the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. Upton was traveling 50 or 60 mph when he hit the utility pole, according to Chief Deputy Robert Keating.

Upton told police who responded to the crash that he had been consuming alcohol. He was taken by a Camden First Aid Association ambulance to the hospital, Keating said.

No information about his injuries was available.
