ALLAGASH – Geneva “Jean” Walker, 81, passed into the presence of God Sept. 6, 2010, in Fort Kent. Geneva was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Allagash, to William “Bill Mack” and Sarah McBreairty. She is survived by three children: son, Wesley Walker and his wife, Gail, of Bangor, daughter, Veronica and her husband, Edward Kelly, of Allagash, and daughter, Susan, to whom the entire family expresses their gratitude for caring for mother, and her husband, Rex “Allan” McBreairty, of Allagash; seven grandchildren, Jeana (Kelly) Hornecker and husband, Scott, Tammy (McBreairty) Delisle and her husband, Travis, Bradley Walker and his wife, Alecia, Barry Walker, Jenny Kelly, Jodi Kelly, and Jamie Kelly; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Austin and Owen Delisle, Ian and Ella Grace Walker. Geneva was predeceased by her loving husband of 26 years, Lester Joseph Walker; as well as seven brothers and two sisters. For 11 years she drove school bus for Allagash Consolidated School and recounts many fond memories of transporting the 1976 and 1977 girls’ high school basketball team to the State Tournament. She was committed to her family throughout her life and shared a vibrant sense of wit with them and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Her home was always open to visitors of who most enjoyed a rousing card game and some story telling around the kitchen table. She loved country music, singing, song writing, quilting, knitting, cats and watching basketball. Friends are invited to attend a wake service 6-9 p.m. Friday at Allagash Community Center. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Allagash Baptist Church. Graveside services will be after at Allagash Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to Owen Delisle Medical Fund, care of Acadia Federal Credit Union, attention Sheila Ouellette/Lisa Michaud, 9 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Funeral services are being handled by Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
