WORCESTER, Mass. – Our son, brother and grandson, Chad Eric Houseweart, 37, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 28, 2010, in Worcester, Mass. Born Oct. 12, 1972, in Lufkin, Texas, Chad was raised in Brewer the son of Dr. Mark W. Houseweart and Tania (Pearse) Houseweart. Chad graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1991. He attended Tufts University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology. His career began in the genetics lab at Eastern Maine Medical Center and continued in Boston area biotechnology firms. Most recently he worked as a research technician at Microbiotix Inc., Worcester, Mass. Chad will be remembered as a skilled scientist who took pride in his work. Happiest driving his fast car, he also enjoyed multiplayer online games and shared his grandfather’s relish of a lively discussion. He was an avid reader with eclectic tastes. He whistled while he cooked, taught his mom to like cats and had a dry scathing wit that will be missed. He leaves behind a group of Brewer classmates with whom he developed an enduring friendship, Dana, Jamie, Aaron, John, Kurt and Matt. He is survived by his mother, Tania of Holden; sister, Megan Wilder and Nick of Boulder, Colo.; grandmother, Wilma Pearse of Salina, Kan.; uncles, Kent Pearse and Anne Christensen of Seattle, and Kim Pearse and Alison of Overland Park, Kan.; and other relatives in Colorado and the Midwest. Chad was predeceased by his father, Dr. Mark W. Houseweart; grandfather, Elmer Pearse; and grandparents, Karl and Mary Houseweart. There will be no services. The family will hold a private gathering at a later date. To remember Chad in a special way, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Maine Public Broadcasting Network Radio, 63 Texas Ave., Bangor, ME 04401 or 1-800-884-1717.
