University of Maine public safety officers were walking through Oxford Hall early Monday morning when they noticed the scent of marijuana coming from outside, university spokesman Joe Carr said Monday.

When officers investigated the odor at 12:50 a.m., they found a 17-year-old student who had pot in her possession.

She was charged with possession of marijuana. Because she is a juvenile, her name was not released. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
