Gardiner man charged with shooting girlfriend in stomach

GARDINER, Maine — Police have arrested a man following a Friday afternoon shooting in Gardiner.

Kenneth Sirmans, 40, has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated reckless conduct after police responded to a 911 call from Sirmans to find Allison Wainwright, 40, injured by a shot to the stomach area.

Winwright was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she underwent surgery, the Kennebec Journal reported.

Sirmans is being held at the Kennebec County jail, with bail set at $500,000, according to the KJ.
