PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has announced the schedule of schools it will visit this fall to hear oral arguments.

For the past six years, the court’s heard arguments in appeals cases in high schools around the state. This fall, it will visit Edward Little High School in Auburn on Oct. 4; Windham High School on Oct. 5, and Waterville High School on Oct. 6.

Chief Justice Leigh Saufley said the school events give students a chance to see practice of appellate law that’s rarely seen on television or in movies.

Last year, court was held at the University of Maine Fort Kent for all four of the St. John Valley area high schools; Fryeburg Academy, and Georges Valley High School in Thomaston. The events are arranged by local legislators.
