VALRICO, Fla. – Florence Elaine (Carlson) van Hoek, 61, beloved wife of Johannes H. van Hoek, passed away 4:02 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at their home. Johannes H. van Hoek and Florence E. (Carlson) van Hoek were married Nov. 4, 1977, in Rockland. Florence leaves behind four children from a previous marriage, Troy Sawyer, Brenton Sawyer, Ashley Sawyer and Marisa Sawyer; and two grandchildren, Brittany and Tyler Sawyer. She is also survived by brothers, Robert Carlson, Gustav H. Carlson Jr., Roger Carlson and his wife, Shelia, Donald Carlson and his wife, Catherine, and Alfred Carlson, all of Rockland; and sisters, Sonya Staples of Lincolnville, Hilma Meklin of Rockland, Norma Davee and husband, Robert, of Camden, Judith Carlson of Thomaston, and Karen Oliver of Rockland. Florence was predeceased by her father, Gustav H. Carlson; mother, Ethel L. Carlson; brother, Richard Carlson; and sister, Arlene Jenkins. “There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Acts 24:15. While grief at the loss of a loved one is great, joy at receiving back a loved one in the resurrection will be greater. I miss you dearly sweetheart and wait to see you again!
