BANGOR, Maine — While many law enforcement officials were attending the funeral and subsequent graveside service for former Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department Detective Tim Jameson late Monday morning and early afternoon, many others were needed to work during the procession.

The procession, extending 50 cars or more, traveled from St. Teresa’s Catholic Church on South Main Street in Brewer to Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Ohio Street in Bangor around noon.

“What we did was we blocked off four major intersections and directed traffic along the route,” said Bangor police Sgt. Larry Weber. “We blocked off Main Street in Brewer when they got on the bridge and then Union, High Street and Ohio.”

Penobscot County Sheriff Glen Ross complimented the coordination and assistance provided by Bangor and Brewer police officers for the 11 a.m. service and 12:30 p.m. interment.

“It was prearranged through Bangor and Brewer departments, and I thought they did an excellent job managing traffic,” Ross said. “I was in the front of it, so I couldn’t see how long it was, but there was a church full of people.

“When you have people like Tim, who affected so many lives, it’s not uncommon for many family, friends and law enforcement brothers to come out to pay their respects.”

Jameson, a Bangor native, had been a child abuse and sexual assault investigator for Penobscot County for 16 years. He died of cancer last Wednesday at age 56.

Traffic was halted and delayed at several spots as the procession made its way to the gravesite.

“We’re sorry people had to wait in traffic on a hot day, but I’m sure they would understand it, especially knowing what a special person it was for,” Ross said.
