Two juveniles pay $200 for Lincoln park damage

By Nick Sambides Jr., BDN Staff

LINCOLN, Maine — Two juveniles who police said were caught vandalizing the town’s beach house at Prince Thomas Park off Mattanawcook Lake have paid $200 restitution and written letters of apology, Town Manager Lisa Goodwin said Monday.

Recreation Department Director Ron Weatherbee said the rock throwing earlier this summer damaged a vent at the beach house, which has restrooms, showers and changing areas.

“They were very apologetic,” Goodwin said.

The youths were caught when a resident near the park called 911 and reserve police Officer Jay Hallett arrived within minutes, Police Chief Scott Minckler has said.

The letter and restitution were part of the youths’ criminal sentencing in Lincoln District Court late last month. Minckler did not return calls Monday seeking comment.
