Commercial lenders conference set for Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — Commercial lenders from 25 states are expected to attend a three-day East Coast conference in Portland.

U.S. Small Business Administrator Karen Mills will deliver the keynote address at the conference, which opens Monday and winds up Wednesday. The conference has a guest list of about 350.

Gov. John Baldacci and other government officials, Tom’s of Maine founder Tom Chappell and Bob Coleman, founder and publisher of Coleman Publishing, are also among those attending.

A second major business conference, for business owners, executives and managers, is set for Bangor Oct. 1-2 at the Hollywood Slots Hotel. Accelerate Maine 2010 aims to bring together professionals from a variety of fields and industries for educational and networking opportunities.

The America East Lenders’ Conference is co-hosted by the SBA and the Portland Regional Chamber. More than 30 workshops covering a wide range of topics will be offered.
