N.H. closing Sugar River trail to work on bridges

NEWPORT, N.H. — The New Hampshire trails bureau is closing the Sugar River Recreational Trail next week so fire prevention work can be done on two bridges.

The trail will be closed at the Pier Covered Bridge and the Wrights Covered Bridge from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3.

Work being done on the bridges includes installing a sprinkler system, fire retardant paint and a fire alarm system. Structural repairs also will be done.
