Rossignol scores 3 goals in Van Buren victory

    WASHBURN — Parise Rossignol collected three unassisted goals to lead the Van Buren Crusaders to a 3-2 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Washburn Beavers Wednesday.

Rossignol netted one goal in the first half for the 3-1 Crusaders and two in the second, including the game-winner on a penalty kick with 17:49 left. Ashley Wilson blocked six of 12 shots.

Sara Sjoberg scored a goal midway through the first half for 4-1 Washburn. Kristi Sperrey added one with six minutes left in the game. Carmen Bragg assisted on both goals. Rayah Saucier stopped four of eight shots.

    So. Aroostook 5, CAHS 3

At Dyer Brook, Janelle Rockwell scored the first of her two goals with three minutes left in the first half to snap a 2-2 deadlock and lead the Warriors to a season-opening victory.

Desirae Dubois and Olivia Raymond assisted on Rockwell’s goals, while Dubois scored a goal of her own. Jillian Diaferio and Jasmine Rockwell tallied a goal each for Southern Aroostook, while Cassie Garcelon and Kristen Tarr posted assists.

Mallary Lawlor made four saves on nine shots.

Vicki McIntyre, Kristen Long and Marissa Anthony scored a goal apiece for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Brea York provided an assist.

Paige Fletcher made six saves on 16 shots.

    Madawaska 9, Wisdom 1

At Madawaska, Nicole Cyr, Olivia Pelletier and Erin Dugal scored two goals apiece as Madawaska rolled past Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Valerie Cormier, Lindsey J. Lavoie and Shannon Blanchette each chipped in with a goal for the 3-1 Owls. Samantha Nadeau posted two assists while Pelletier, Cormier and Blanchette each had one. Amanda Nadeau stopped two of five shots.

Krystal Paradis scored an unassisted goal for the 0-4 Pioneers. Hayley Cyr made 18 saves on 40 shots.

    Fort Kent 1, Caribou 1 (2OT)

At Caribou, Mary Morris notched the game-tying goal with 15:32 left in the game as Fort Kent battled to a tie with Caribou through two overtimes.

Michela Desjardins picked up the assist on the goal for the Warriors. Crissa Pelletier made 25 saves on 32 shots.

Meredith Sleeper scored for Caribou with 16:39 left in the first half on an assist from Jenna Selander. Morgan Swan blocked eight of 12 shots.
