Topsham apartment building fire ruled arson

The Associated Press

TOPSHAM, Maine — Investigators are looking for information from the public as they try to determine who set a fire in Topsham, Maine.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office says Tuesday night’s deliberately set fire destroyed an abandoned four-unit apartment house on the Brunswick Naval Air Station annex. The house had not been lived in for several years and there was no power to the building.

Fire marshals and naval personnel inspected dozens of other unoccupied houses nearby Wednesday to determine if any other fires may have been set inside those buildings.

The fire gutted the apartment house and flattened an adjacent car port and storage building. No one was hurt.
