Brownville Days to feature ‘Elvis Guy’

BROWNVILLE, Maine — A fun-filled weekend that includes a performance by Bill Nye, the “Elvis Guy,” is scheduled for Brownville Days Aug. 21-22.

A pancake breakfast will be served from 6 to 8 a.m. Saturday at the Brownville Community Church, and a classic and antique automobile show will be held from 6 to 9 a.m. at the church.

A quilt show will be held at 9 a.m. at the Brownville Junction Methodist Church followed by a parade at 9 a.m. Paul Foulkes is the grand marshal of the parade, which starts on Route 11 and ends on Railroad Avenue. Parade participants will be entered into a $100 random prize drawing.

Other events include an art show at 10 a.m. at 1573 Main Road, a lunch at 11 a.m. at the Brownville Junction Methodist Church, and an open house from noon to 4 p.m. at the Brownville Historical Society.

Events move at 2 p.m. to the Junction General Store and Entertainment Park, where a flea market, antique show, karaoke and games for children will be held. Nye will perform at 7 p.m. at the entertainment park.

Sunday’s events will include a coed adult softball tournament at 8 a.m. and a free ’50s and ’60s concert by Averill Lovely, Ralph Lovely and Jack Eastman at 2 p.m. at the Brownville Junction High School Alumni Hall.
