UNITY, Maine — A woman’s car crashed Tuesday in a park after she died while at the wheel.

Around noon Tuesday, 80-year-old Margret Wilcox of Unity died while driving on Route 202, according to Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department.

Her car then rolled into a nearby park, known as The Field of Dreams. The car traveled through the grass, over a bank and across a field in the park before coming to a stop in front of trees near a patch of woods, Trundy said.

Someone nearby called police to report the incident.

Wilcox is one of three Unity Select Board members.

“There are no skid marks, no brake marks. It appears she simply passed away while driving,” Trundy said Tuesday. “We’ve had it happen before.”
