31st Children’s Day Saturday in Hampden

HAMPDEN, Maine — The town will hold the 31st annual Hampden Children’s Day on Saturday, Aug. 21, featuring family-theme events throughout the day.

The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Hampden Kiwanis at its center on Main Road. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12.

The second annual Craig Thomas McBean Memorial 5K Run-Walk begins at the Earl C. McGraw School with registration at 8 a.m.

The Children’s Day parade, the centerpiece of the annual event, begins with a lineup at 10 a.m. near St. Matthew’s Church across the street from Edwards Family Shop ’n Save. The parade itself starts at 11 a.m.

More events are scheduled throughout the afternoon, including jugglers, magicians, face painting, an obstacle course, a bounce house and other games.
