PRESQUE ISLE – Alton D. Wilcox, 91, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at his home, after ongoing health problems. He was born Aug. 24, 2010, in Presque Isle, son of James “Bert” and Alice (Michaud) Wilcox. Alton was a 1935 graduate of Presque Isle High School and went onto graduate from the University of Maine, Orono. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, and reached the rank of staff sergeant. After the war, Alton worked many years for Hussey Farms, Caribou Road. He also worked many years for Lane Construction. Alton enjoyed taking care of his property which was filled with flowers and many trees. Surviving him are two nephews, Rick Rideout and his wife, Julie, of Woodstock, Vt., and Ron Rideout and his wife, Martha, of Rutland Vt.; a great-niece, Kathryn; a great-nephew, Gregory; a great-great-niece, Gabriella; and a great-great-nephew, Jake. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice (Wilcox) Rideout. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Johnson Cemetery with the Rev.
