If you read “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall then you may have been aware of the minimalist running trend slightly before the masses. You may also have been aware of Vibram FiveFingers, before they became a must-have. FiveFingers are basically a foot covering with a sticky Vibram sole that were designed as a nonmarking shoe for sailing. Eventually this footwear became popular among runners.

The popularity of FiveFingers has not stopped with runners and sailors. This summer a number of southbound hikers have passed through Bangor, donning FiveFingers, as their camp shoe of choice.

If you are a kayaker, boulderer or yoga enthusiast, FiveFingers might be a good fit for you. There are a number of different styles to choose from depending on what activity you plan to use them for. You can also find technical performance socks from Injinji with individual toes that work well with FiveFingers.

Price: $74.95- $99.95
