Girl, 10, recovering after being pinned under tree at Lebanon campground

The Associated Press

LEBANON, Maine — A rescue official in a southwestern Maine town say the condition of a 10-year-old girl has improved after she was injured when a powerful thunderstorm toppled a tree onto the tent she was in.

Rescue officials in Lebanon say the girl was one of six people from the same family injured when the storm toppled trees at the Flat Rock Bridge Family Resort on the Salmon Falls River just before 6 p.m. Monday.

Lebanon Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole says the girl was taken to the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was initially listed in critical condition. On Tuesday her condition was upgraded to serious.

The other family members were treated for minor injuries. The name of the family was not released.
