BANGOR – Russell J. McKenna Sr., 75, loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Aug. 4, 2010, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Fall River, Mass., son of Francis and Evelyn (McLellan) McKenna. Russ was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Salva Regina College, Newport, R.I., and Beal College, Bangor. He worked for the city of Bangor for 28 years retiring as city clerk. He was a member and past president of Bangor Kiwanis breakfast club, and past president of Penobscot Clerk’s Association. He was a lifelong communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian (Butera) McKenna of Bangor; two sons, Russell J. Jr. and Sylvia of Marlboro, Mass., and Christopher and his wife, Rhonda, of Bangor and their children, Fallon and Kelsey; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn and her husband, Robert Liebow, of Mount Desert and their children, Joshua and wife, Susana, and Jessye, and Mrs. Maureen and her husband, Thomas Tousignant, of Pewaukee, Wis., and their children, Jonathan, Karissa, Brandon, Christopher and Timothy; three brothers, Frank and his wife, Joan, of Connecticut, Ralph and his wife, Eva, of Arizona and Patrick and his wife, Joan, of Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Interment will be after in the family lot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
