ORRINGTON, Maine — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV on Route 15 Friday morning sent one driver to the hospital.
Deputy Daren Mason of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. when the SUV drifted across the centerline and collided with the wheels of the tractor-trailer. The SUV spun off the road and came to rest in a ditch.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the SUV, who was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for minor injuries.
Julie Tufts, 47, suffered “several abrasions from broken glass” and bruising along the left side of her body where the car hit the tractor-trailer, Mason said. The driver of the rig, Terrance Lary, 40, was uninjured in the crash.
