WINTERPORT – Peter Anthony DeGennaro, 27, who was a hero to all that knew him, lost his courageous battle with leukemia Aug. 4, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at home. Peter was born Oct. 14, 1982, in Bangor, the son of Peter and Rose Palmer DeGennaro. Peter had the kindest soul. He was the most dedicated daddy and husband, even before we said our vows. I love you my sweet Pete. You will be missed by many. Peter is survived by his wife, Nicole; son, Trey; his mother, Rose; sister, Kayla; maternal grandmother, Joyce Palmer, all of Winterport; paternal grandparents, Toni and Ruth DeGennaro of New Jersey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lisa and Robert Dempsey of Otis; as well as a very large extended family who all loved and supported him throughout his life. Peter was predeceased by his father, Peter DeGennaro, in 1999. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, with Pastor Steve Nute officiating. Interment will be at Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Monroe. Memorial contributions in Peter’s honor may be made to Peter DeGennaro Fund, care of Camden National Bank, P.O. Box 189, Hampden, ME 04444.
