BUCKSPORT — Emmett Shell recorded the final three outs, the final coming on a chopper back to himself at the mound, to quell a five-run rally and lead Waldo County past Old Town 8-7 in the ages 10-11 State Little League All-Star tournament Monday.
York defeated Bucksport 11-1 in four innings to advance to the championship game.
Bucksport and Waldo County meet Tuesday at 4 p.m., with the winner moving on to play York for the championship on Thursday. Old Town was eliminated.
In the second game, Colby Trask hit two singles and drove in two runs to lead Waldo County. Brandon Smith gad two singles and two runs and Alex McKenny added a run and two singles.
Austin Lacadie hit a two-run double in the sixth inning for Old Town. Chad Bartlett hit an RBI double in the sixth and T.J. Crawford hit a single and a run-scoring triple.
In the first game, Jack Bouchard paced York with a double, single and three RBIs. Trevor Labonte hit two singles and knocked in three runs. Sam Johnson singled twice with an RBI.
Bucksport’s Tyler Hayes singled in the fourth and scored on a Riley MacLeod single.
