SANGERVILLE, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating why a father and son died within hours of each other at a hunting camp on Shaw Road.

Andrew Giroux, 49, and his son Dustin Giroux, 25, both of Saco appear to have died within hours of each other, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state police.

There was no immediate evidence of foul play, he said. McCausland called the men’s deaths “unexplained.”

The Girouxs, along with four other men, were spending the weekend at the hunting camp owned by the elder Giroux, McCausland said.

The older man was found dead outside the camp Sunday morning, and the younger man was found stricken in his bed a short time later, he said. Both bodies have been taken to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta for autopsies, likely to be performed Monday.

Deputies from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office assisted state police detectives and troopers at the scene.
