POLAND, Maine — A Poland man is recovering from a stab wound he suffered at about the same time his Poland home caught on fire.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Detective William Gagne said he hoped to learn more after he talks with David Hodgkins, who is recovering from the stab wound at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The fire was reported early Tuesday. When firefighters arrived they discovered that Hodgkins was injured.

A state fire investigator says the fire started in the kitchen, but he didn’t say what caused it.

The Sun Journal of Lewiston says that police and sheriffs detectives searched the remains of Hodgkins home on Tuesday to seek evidence of a crime.
