ST. AGATHA, Maine — The annual Long Lake Summer Fest, a yearly festival held in St. Agatha in the scenic St. John Valley, is set for July 30-Aug. 1. Registration for the weekend’s festivities are $5 for adults, $3 for youth, and free for children under age 5.
A wide array of events is set for the weekend. Friday morning, the St. Agathe Historical Society will give a presentation at the Historical House and Cultural Interpretation Center. A farm tour of the John and Anna Babin Farm on Bouchard Road will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., along with covered wagon rides. Tractor pulls will be offered on Flat Mountain Road, and laser tag for youth will be offered at St. Agatha Park. A family reunion for the Le Concessions family will be held from 7:30-11:30 p.m. at Gaylen Thibeault’s home on Flat Mountain Road.
Saturday, a children’s fishing derby is set for 9 to 11 a.m. at Pepere Rene’s Pond, a chicken barbecue sponsored by the St. Agatha Fire Department will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the annual Summer Fest Parade is from 1 to 3 p.m., starting at the boat landing and leading to the town garage. An antique car show will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Wisdom High School Parking Lot. The night ends with a performance from the Jerry T. Band at 8 p.m. at the St. Agatha Fire Station, with a special guest appearance from “Elvis Presley.”
Sunday morning begins with a Memorial Mass at the St. Agatha Church, in conjunction with a townwide breakfast and brunch from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at Wisdom High School. It’s family fun day at St. Agatha Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a bingo tournament will be offered at the Knights of Columbus Hall starting at 1 p.m. The musical jamboree, featuring local musicians, will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Centennial Gazebo.
A huge high school reunion for all graduates of Wisdom High School from the years 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010 will be held at the high school from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the high school, including an alumni banquet. The annual lighted holiday parade on Long Lake will begin at 8 p.m., leaving behind the town office. The weekend will end with a fireworks display, starting at 9 p.m.
