KNOX, Maine — A man landed in jail Monday evening after he allegedly threatened a group of women with a .30-30 rifle during a domestic dispute, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department.

Eric D. Hustus, 26, of Knox reportedly became angry when his wife’s sister came over to help her pack her belongings, Chief Deputy Robert Keating said Tuesday.

“He got angry and got a firearm,” Keating said. “He did grab and brandish a firearm.”

Hustus also allegedly picked up rocks and threw them at the car of another woman who also had come to lend assistance, Keating said.

When Deputy David Mushrall and Sgt. Dale Brown came to the Kenney Road residence, they found Hustus to be cooperative, Keating said.

He was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, terrorizing, threatening display of a firearm, assault and criminal mischief, and was booked at Waldo County Jail. He was released on $10,000 surety bail Tuesday morning, according to a jail official.
