IZAK ANDRIES MARE

BANGOR – Izak Andries Mare, 83, completed his earthly journey July 24, 2010, and entered into the presence of the Lord he loved and served. He was born March 13, 1927, in Belfast, South Africa, where he served in the South African Air Force and later traveled around the world as a marine engineer. He later studied and graduated from African Evangelist Band, Cape Town, South Africa. He came to the U.S. with his wife to raise support for T.E.A.M. to go back to South Africa as a missionary. Health prevented his return. He became a pastor to West Hampden Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church, Sherman Station; director of Canadian Sunday School Mission, Maritime Provinces; and pastor of the Baptist church in Mattawamkeag, and Calvary Baptist Church, Newport. He served as interim pastor at Baptist Church of Cambridge, Faith Bible Church, Olamon, and Calvary Baptist Church, Pittsfield. He married Trudy Lowe, in 1953, and together they had three children, Larry Mar?, Ruth and her husband, Miguel Basaldua, and Martha and her husband, John Berrgren; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State St., Brewer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Eastern Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O.
