Police investigate apparent murder-suicide in Hollis

The Associated Press

HOLLIS, Maine — Maine State Police are treating the deaths of a husband and wife as a murder-suicide.

Investigators believe 50-year-old Mike Lagarde shot his 44-year-old wife, Freda Lagarde, before turning the gun on himself in their Hollis mobile home. Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland says their bodies were found at about 1 p.m. Wednesday by an adult daughter.

Police say the deaths may have happened Tuesday night.

Investigators are awaiting confirmation on the time and cause of death from the state medical examiner’s office, which will perform autopsies Thursday.
