BANGOR and PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Rosalie Trager passed away July 15, 2010, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., from heart disease. She was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Brewer, and spent most of her adult life in Bangor. She now joins her husband, Herbert, who passed away in 1998. Rosalie attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and was a registered pharmacist, practicing in Boston and Bangor. She was co-owner of Post Office Pharmacy, which was a local fixture in Bangor for more than 30 years. Rosalie was an accomplished pianist who loved classical music. She was active in many Jewish charitable organizations, including the B’nai Brith. She opened her heart and her home to many who needed a place to stay. Her boundless spirit enriched us all; her kind and gentle nature will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Sharma J. Schacknow, JD, MBA, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Southport; her son, Barry M. Trager, PhD, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Pisa, Italy; and her two grandsons, Jeffrey M. Schacknow and Matthew G. Trager. Her sister, Ruth Chetnik, resides in Miami; and her brother, Ben Shapero, MD, lives in Bangor and West Palm Beach, Fla. Marco Crondo of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has been her loving and compassionate partner for the past decade. Funeral services will be held noon Sunday, July 18, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor.
