FRANKLIN, Maine — A Milbridge man remained in critical condition Thursday after he suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

According to a report by Deputy Christopher Sargent of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, William Reynolds, 51, was traveling west on Route 182 in Franklin at about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, his 1994 Toyota pickup truck left the travel lane and struck a guardrail.

The pickup spun about 90 degrees in the road and then traveled off the edge of the pavement and rolled over. Reynolds was ejected from the vehicle, which continued moving, struck a tree and came to rest on its side.

Reynolds suffered multiple injuries that were considered life-threatening, according to Sargent’s report.

Reynolds was taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and later transferred by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he was listed in critical condition Thursday evening.
