A Bangor man was hanging out at a Union Street house on Sunday when he reportedly pulled out a large knife and attempted to stab the man he was visiting, Brewer police Sgt. Arden Jones said Wednesday.

“Basically he was visiting someone and for no reason whatsoever he took a knife and came at him and tried to stab the victim,” he said.

The two men struggled with each other and the victim was able to “make him drop the knife,” Jones said. “The victim has very minor injuries. Nothing, really.”

Anthony Barone, 19, left quickly and was found in Bangor around 7 p.m. and arrested on a charge of felony aggravated assault. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and remained in jail on Thursday evening, a jail official said.

If convicted of aggravated assault, Barone could face a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000.
