Bagley, Maguire power Ellsworth to district title

        BAR HARBOR – Ellsworth scored seven runs in the top of the second inning en route to a 9-2 victory over Acadian for the District 1 baseball championship for ages 11-12 Wednesday.

Nick Bagley hit three singles and drove in two runs for Ellsworth. Conor Maguire had a double, a single and two runs scored and Asa Jordan hit an RBI single in the second.

Dylan Collin hit two doubles and scored both runs for Acadian.

At Lincoln, Joe Plummer hit a single and a home run and scored two runs to lead Hermon to victory over Lincoln.

Bryce Heethia doubled, singled and scored two runs for Hermon. Eric Hoogterp singled twice with two runs scored. Hunter Clukey and Matt Leach doubled.

Trevor Delaite singled and scored on a Trevor Sutherland two-run home run in the first inning for Lincoln.

At Ellsworth, Stefan Simmons and Bryce Harmon combined for a no-hitter to lead Coastal past Ellsworth to claim the championship Tuesday.

Simmons and Harmon had six strikeouts and seven walks for Coastal.

Coastal’s Trent Williamson hit a double, two singles and knocked in three runs. Harmon tripled and singled with an RBI and Max Mattson hit a double and drove in three runs.

At Ellsworth, Connor Morey tripled and singled to drive in two runs and lead Coastal past Ellsworth.

Tyler Robbins hit three singles and knocked in a run for Coastal. Loriman Looke hit a double and a single.

Jake McGuire led Ellsworth with a double and two singles. Corey Smelley tripled and scored in the second.

At Calais, P.J. Descoteaux hit four singles and scored four runs in helping Calais defeat Bucksport.

Tyler Morrison had two doubles and four runs for Calais. Damon Lincoln added two singles and four runs scored.

Jack Cyr led Bucksport with a double and a run scored.

At Houlton, Hermon rallied from a 4-0 deficit to topple Bangor East and claim the district championship.

Jordan LaFrance led Hermon by hitting two triples and knocking in five runs. Christian Greener doubled and singled with an RBI. Zach Nash, Ryan Hoogterp and Connor Magliozzi each singled twice. Mark Mailloux hit an RBI single.

Nick Crichton hit a second-inning two-run single for Bangor East. Zach Ireland singled and scored.

At Thirteenth Street Field in Bangor, Bangor East scored nine runs in the fifth inning to eliminate Holbrook.

Bangor East advanced to a 5:30 p.m. elimination game against Hampden today with that winner advancing to Friday’s 5:30 p.m. title round against  unbeaten Old Town.

Thomas Szewezyk singled twice to lead Bangor East while Jack McCloskey, Keith Gurschik, Corey Janssen, Brock Kitchen and Devon Goss each adding a single.

Noah Thompson doubled for Holbrook and Tyler Timms, Austin Lufkin and Trey Wood each singled.
