Vassalboro man faces charges in 22-mile chase

WINSLOW, Maine — A Vassalboro man is facing a variety of charges after a 22-mile high-speed chase that began in Winslow.

Police say 37-year-old Winfried P. Cates of Vassalboro was arrested late Sunday night after a Winslow officer spotted a car allegedly driven by Cates going 92 mph on state Route 137.

The Portland Press Herald said the chase went into China before Cates was arrested at a roadblock set up by state police.

Cates was charged with felony aggravated drunken driving, eluding a police officer and other offenses.
