Fitzhenry, Machias trip up Coastal stars

     BLUE HILL – Dylan Fitzhenry hit a two-run home run and a single as Machias held off a late Coastal rally to post a 9-8 victory in a District 1 all-star baseball game for ages 11-12 Friday.

  Machias silenced a late comeback by Coastal in the bottom of the sixth, throwing out Krisford Melanio at home plate to conclude the three-run inning.

  Ethan Shepard rapped a two-run homer in the sixth for Coastal, Melanio added a triple and a single, while Noah Davis chipped in with a triple.

     Ellsworth 6, Acadians 2

  At Ellsworth, Charlie Libby doubled, singled, scored two runs and drove in a run to lead Ellsworth by the Acadians.

  Harrison Vinall hit two singles and scored twice for Ellsworth. Jason Crossman hit an RBI double, and Nick Bagley added an RBI single.

  Dylan Collin and Ryan Bender each singled for the Acadians.

     Calais 9, Sunrise 0

  At Calais, Kyle Johnson and Bennett Cox combined on a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and two walks to power Calais by Sunrise.

  Johnson helped his own cause with two doubles and three RBIs for Calais. Isaac Collins posted a triple, a double and an RBI. Keegan Newman doubled and singled, while Daniel McPhee added two singles and an RBI.
