Motor City to honor veterans at Saturday doubleheader

Bangor Daily News

ORONO — The Motor City American Legion baseball team will recognize military veterans from the Bangor area as part of the team’s Saturday doubleheader with Lincoln Lumber, to be held at UMaine’s Mahaney Diamond at 1 p.m.

The recognition will include a pre-game ceremony during which representatives of area American Legion posts will throw out ceremonial “first pitches,” followed by a complimentary barbecue for the veterans, to be held in between games of the doubleheader.

Invitations have been extended to the leaders of the American Legion and VFW posts based in those communities where Motor City players reside. However, all military veterans are invited.

Military veterans are requested to bring some sort of identification noting their military affiliation so that they may receive free admission to the game and to the barbecue. Anyone with questions about the event should call John Diamond at 949-4904.
