Summer photo contest starts today in County


CARIBOU, Maine — The Aroostook County Tourism summer photo contest begins today and ends Aug. 20. The contest’s five categories include Aroostook County scenic views, wildlife, outdoor recreation, festivals and events, and cities and towns. The photos must represent Aroostook in the summer.

Winning photos will be displayed on the ACT website and may be used for marketing projects if permitted. Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome to participate. Photos may be submitted as prints or in digital format. There will be one overall winner with additional winners in each category.

The prize for the summer contest is a three-month rental of a 10-by-10-foot storage unit at Storage Solutions in Presque Isle. The total value of the rental is $180. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Must be 18 years or older.

Nancy Haley of Presque Isle has been chosen as the overall winner of the ACT spring photo contest for her photo of a fawn relaxing in a field of spring flowers. Other category winners include Elena Bourgoin of Fort Kent for the scenic views category, Laurie Smyth of Caribou for outdoor recreation, and Gene Cyr of Washburn for cities and towns. All winning entries are available to view on the website.
