Moon Outdoors, publisher of guidebooks, has just released “New England Biking,” featuring detailed descriptions of more than 100 road, mountain and cyclocross biking trips in the six New England States.

The 468-page paperback is divided by states and features 18 rides in Maine, including two island rides —Peakes and Bar Harbor, as well as the scenic Schoodic Peninsula loop road.

Each ride is categorized by degree of difficulty, and by mileage as well as whether it’s on or off-road. Rides are broken down turn-by-turn by mileage, so an accurate odometer is a must.

There are rides that are as short as 4 miles (Peakes Island) to 90 miles (St. John Valley tour) ranging in riding time from 1 hour to 8 hours and elevation gains from as little as 96 feet (Peakes Island, again) to 2,526 feet (St. John Valley tour).

Oh, yes, there are rides in the other five states as well.
