N.E. Mutiny cruise past Maine Tide

     NORTHPORT — First-half goals by Merissa Phipps and Bryony Parker led the New England Mutiny to a 3-0 Women’s Premier Soccer League victory over the Maine Tide at the Point Lookout Resort Sunday afternoon.

  Phipps converted a cross by UConn’s Karen Gurnon in the 22nd minute and, 18 minutes later, American International College’s (Mass.) Parker headed home a Jenny Maurer cross.

  UMass’ Therese Smith scored off a free kick in the 55th minute.

  Puerto Rico National Team goalkeeper Julie Arroyo made five saves on six shots for the 3-2-3 Mutiny, while Kortnie Hudgens made seven saves on 13 shots for the 0-7 Tide.
