Crowley, Young, Kane help Acadians sweep

     BLUE HILL — Mike Crowley hit a two-run triple to highlight a five-run fifth inning as the Acadians defeated the Penquis Navigators 7-2 in the opening game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.

  The Acadians topped Penquis in the second game 5-2.

  In the opener, Devin Young gave the Acadians an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. Nick Kane hit two doubles and drove in a run.

  David Lord doubled and singled with an RBI for the Navigators while Jamie Nason added a double and a single.

  In the nightcap, Andy Hodge pitched a complete game allowing one earned run on one hit with five strikeouts to lead the Acadians. Seth Cote hit an RBI double while Ross Saunders added an RBI single.

  Jamie Nason hit an RBI single to pace the Navigators.

     Hampden, Motor City split

  At Mahaney Diamond in Orono, Casey Estes pitched a complete game, scattering five hits and allowing no earned runs, to lead Motor City by the Hampden-Newport Riverdogs 4-1 in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader.

  Hampden-Newport defeated Motor City in the first game 20-11.

  In the first game, Nolan Turner hit four singles and scored four runs for the Riverdogs. Alex Cust posted two singles, a double and three RBIs while Cody Miller hit a two-run triple and a single. Josh Tardiff added an RBI double and a single.

  Estes paced Motor City with three singles and two RBIs. Phil Benoit and Chris Hammond each doubled and singled while John Johnson, Cody Cross and Chris Potter each singled twice.

  In the second game, Cody Cross hit two RBI singles to spark Motor City. Jared Theriault and Chris Potter each chipped in with an RBI single.

  Tyler Desjardins tripled, doubled and scored a run for Hampden-Newport. Justin Rogerson added two singles.

  At Blue Hill, Chase Bickford hit a two-run home run and an RBI double to spark the Acadians by Motor City of Bangor Sunday.

  Jordan Carter posted a double a single and an RBI for the Acadians. Nick Saunders added two singles and an RBI.

  Phil Benoit, John Johnson and Casey Estes each hit a single for Motor City.

     Brewer sweeps Lincoln

  At Lincoln, Eric White collected two home runs, four singles, a double and eight RBIs to power the Brewer Falcons to a doubleheader sweep over Lincoln Lumber Saturday.

  The Falcons defeated Lincoln 17-5 in the first game and 20-11 in the second game.

  In the first game, White had a three-run home run, two singles and a double with five RBIs for Brewer. Chase Daniels posted three singles, a double and three RBIs while Kyle McLain hit a three-run home run and a single.

  Ryan Beers hit a two-run home run for Lincoln Lumber. Lance Bernier added a double, a single and an RBI.

  In the second game, White led the Falcons with a three-run home run and two singles. Jordan Richards hit a solo home run, a double and a single. Evan Eldridge hit a two-run home run while Brandon Gendreau added a two-run triple.

  Brendan Crocker hit a grand slam in the seventh inning for Lincoln. Lance Bernier doubled and singled with an RBI while Dylan Bouchard added two singles and an RBI.

  At Lincoln, Tyler Tash and Brendan Crocker each hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning as Lincoln Lumber edged the Calais Suns in nine innings Sunday.

  Dakota Sleeper hit three singles for Lincoln while A.J. Harris tallied a triple, a single and an RBI. Ryan Beers chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

  Ed Flaherty paced Calais with a three-run home run and two singles. Mike Kennedy and Dylan Ramsdell each added a solo home run and a single.

     Bangor, Calais split

  At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, the Comrades banged out 15 hits to take the first game of a Saturday doubleheader from Calais 15-1 before the visitors came back to win the nightcap 8-1.

  In the first game, Cody McInnis led Bangor with an RBI double and two singles while Jack Stacey knocked in two more with a triple.

  Dylan Morris hit a two-run homer while Joe Stanevicz added three singles and two RBIs for Bangor.

  David Cropley, Adam Geel, Ryan Schopee and Ed Flaherty singled for Calais.

  In the nightcap, Toby Woods had two singles, a double and three RBIs and Bryce Colbeth an RBI double to lead Calais.

  Geel and Flaherty each had two singles for the Suns.

  For Bangor, Nate Lewis doubled while Stacey, Ryan Rouleau and Anthony Capuano singled.
